About University Recreation & Wellness

University Recreation & Wellness (RecWell) enriches the educational experience and encourages personal growth by inspiring the University of Maryland community to be active and live well. Operating 4 indoor recreation facilities and multiple outdoor spaces on campus, RecWell serves more than 2,500 students and members every day. RecWell offers group fitness classes, personal training, student-led sport clubs, intramural sports leagues and tournaments, outdoor adventure trips, bike shop services, challenge course programs, an 18-hole golf course, swimming lessons, a children’s summer day camp, and more. We believe being physically active is a crucial component of success in and out of the classroom, and we are dedicated to creating a culture of wellness where all members of the university community thrive.

About The Fund

The RecWell Student Employee Scholarship Fund was established to provide financial assistance in the amount of $500 for tuition and books to two (2) undergraduate student employees who uphold this mission statement in his or her work with University Recreation & Wellness at the University of Maryland. The scholarship is awarded annually to two undergraduate students. Students are asked to apply for the scholarship.

How to Apply

 
Who is eligible to apply? University of Maryland, College Park students who:
  • Are current employees of University Recreation & Wellness
  • Have been employed by University Recreation & Wellness for two or more semesters
  • Are pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park
  • Have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.75 at the time of application
  • Are enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more credits)
What criteria will be considered for awarding the RecWell Student Employee Scholarship Fund?
  • Compelling, thoughtful, genuine, and thorough responses
  • Expected graduation date
  • Accuracy of a fully completed application
Schedule
  • Scholarship is awarded in April annually
  • Application period: March - April
